When I saw the following lines
“The amount of new Technical Information is doubling every 2 years…
For students starting a 4 year technical degree, this means that….
half of what they learn in their first year of study will be outdated by their third year of study.”
I just laughed!
What and why are we studying actually?
We study hard, work hard just to show one thing to our future employer -
” We are good at learning. Whenever a new technology/ programming language comes out, we can figure it out fast.”
That’s what I am thinking when I study (Maybe I have already accepted that courses offered in college are useless.)
Here is the inspiring video by Karl Fisch.

Hey kwong,
I just knew from Jackie that you have your own blog!
I don’t usually read others’ blogs, but I think I will make reading yours my new, very posh habit.

By the way, the AIESEC-LC-CUHK website may consider using this kind of blog approach.
Is there any idea/ comments?

like Iris said it is mind-blowing video.
i agree -> “We are good at learning. Whenever a new technology/ programming language comes out, we can figure it out fast.”

Kwong,
You are right, technology is unpredictably fast~
The “things” we studied and currently studying is possibly obsoleted seconds after.
But what we really obtained throughout the university life is “Learning to Learn”. We are equipped with skills that make us a fast learner of new stuffs, without doubt it is possibly a genuine advantage of university students.
I like your blog, Keep it up~~

Not really,
2月 19, 2009, 05:57:26In university, what we learn is problem solving.
As an engineer, what we need to know is how to solve a problem.
Understand the Principle is more important that getting new knowledge.
Finding the root problem can help to solve the problem efficiently.
That’s WHY WE ARE LEARNING…….. the basic knowledge in IE area.
Kwong says:
At last, some difference voice =D
2月 19, 2009, 08:45:34Actually I would not argue problem solving skill is also a special aspect of learning.
But….Why don’t we call that Engineers’ mindset?
(including optimization, divide and conquer etc.)
