Previously on Read more on RSS, we have already talked about RSS to read as much as possible. This time, I am going to talk about how to organize your bookmarks.
Have you ever used the bookmarks (also called “My Favorite”) feature of your web browser? Well, there should be chances that you would say “I hope my computer was right here that I can have the URL stored before.”
Or maybe you have another problem – you have bookmarked too many things, not well-organizing them and you cannot find the useful information from huge pile of bookmarks.
If there is the case, I hope the following blog would help you.
Delicious is very famous in social bookmarking. It has lots of features, including
1) Enable users to upload saved URLs
2) Synchronize the bookmarks whenever you go (in-between different computers)
3) And most importantly, share bookmarks with your friends
You can just create an account and try to use it yourself.
Adding bookmarks to your own account is very simple, just press “Save a new bookmarks” on the right hand corner.

Then just fill in all the required fields.
You may wonder what TAGS are. Delicious uses a non-hierarchical classification in which users can tag each of their bookmarks with freely chosen index terms (Tags). Instead of having a URL under a specific folder, a stored URL can be retrieved using different keywords.
The following example will illustrate the idea. We will use the following URL.
http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/10/15/poverty-lets-make-a-difference/
It is a good collection of Portraits – portraits of children who lived in poverty.
When I came across this webpage, I think “Well, it may be useful in the future when I am going to work for charity or designing poster for them.”
If I am still using the hierarchical classification, should I put it in the folder of “Design” or maybe in “Charity”? Hmm…maybe I should make another duplicated copy in the folder of “AIESEC”.
It would be troublesome if you can relate the website with many keywords.
You can try to access
http://delicious.com/tksham/aiesec
http://delicious.com/tksham/charity
http://delicious.com/tksham/poverty
and you will find the same URL.
Actually Delicious can be integrated with your own browser.

Find the one that runs on your favorite browser, import all bookmarks you previously had and enjoy!
You can also take a look of my bookmarks on http://delicious.com/tksham/ or on my blog’s front-page.
I would like to invite you to join delicious. After you register, please leave a comment and your account name that I can share some URL with you all.
